Centrelink is in the top one hundred of Australian companies in terms of size and turnover, and distributes $70.5 billion in social security payments on behalf of policy departments. Centrelink:

  • pays 9.98 million individual entitlements and records more than 6.6 billion electronic customer transactions each year
  • administers products and services for more than 20 government agencies
  • employs 26,167 staff
  • has more than 1,000 service delivery points ranging from large Customer Service Centres to small visiting services
  • received 32.8 million telephone calls
  • grants 2.4 million new claims each year.
